The humanitarian mission continues

This time the aid was delivered in two minibuses to the wards of the Social Protection Department of the Darnytsia District State Administration and the Territorial Social Service Center of the Darnytsia District of Kyiv. For those who are in dire need of such assistance and do not have the means to purchase them.

The Territorial Center for Social Services of the Darnytskyi District of Kyiv alone has 1380 people with limited mobility – the elderly, people with special needs from birth and those with disabilities due to injuries. Therefore, 10 walkers, wheelchairs, canes, and 20 crutches each will be a significant support for them.

Moreover, according to Valentyna Doroshenko, director of the Territorial Centre for Social Services (provision of social services) in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, not all of them need wheelchairs or crutches for life – only until they are fully recovered. Not all of them can afford them either. But each of these people wants to feel like a full-fledged member of society, not to burden their families with taking care of them.

Lyudmila Kazhanova, head of department No. 1 of the same centre, adds: “For both of them, such significant help is great. Our wards are happy about it like children – their pensions are small and they can’t afford to buy anything else.”

“Thanks to the support of the Medical e.V. Foundation, we are able to help people with disabilities with mobility aids and rehabilitation. The rehabilitation equipment provided by them is of very high quality,” says Stepan Aslanian, President of the Help For Ukraine Charitable Foundation. – “We want it to help these people to move around on their own as effectively as possible.

“These people should not feel deprived or guilty for their helplessness. Nowadays,” adds Vilen Fatalov, Vice President of the “Help For Ukraine” Charity Foundation, “during the war, the number of people who lost the ability to move freely has increased many times over. The state alone, which spends the lion’s share of its budget on providing for the military, cannot cope with this problem alone. That is why volunteer help is invaluable.

We are grateful to our partners, the Medical e.V. Foundation, for their help in our mission. Crutches, wheelchairs, walkers and canes are very easy to use. If necessary, they will be provided to injured, sick and disabled people.”

“There is a lot of work to be done in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv for good deeds,” adds Mykola Kalashnyk, acting head of the Darnytskyi District State Administration. – “Even though pensioners and people with disabilities are provided with state social assistance, in times of war, support from charitable organisations and foundations is always timely and meaningful. We are grateful that there are such effective charities as the Help For Ukraine Foundation for their efficiency and compassionate hearts.”
