We continue to save Kherson water

Our Help For Ukraine foundation, together with the NGO RoDoRa and Nova Ukraine, continues to implement the Save Kherson Water project and support Ukrainian frontline communities in difficult times of war.

Recently, we have delivered two portable water purification systems to a school in the village of Kalynivske, Kherson region, where 200 children study. The village’s infrastructure has been severely damaged by the war, and the water available to residents is not even suitable for bathing. Brought-in technical water is available only once a week.

Therefore, even today, high-quality drinking water is a luxury for the affected regions. Research, in particular by experts from Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University, confirms that the water that southerners are forced to consume after the hydroelectric power plant explosion can be called poison. All the water below the Kakhovka dam has been poisoned by a large number of cattle cemeteries, cemeteries, and agricultural chemical storage facilities.

The quality of water available from underground sources in the settlements does not meet drinking standards, which are not equipped with post-treatment equipment. It has a 9-fold excess of lacto-positive E. coli, more than three times the content of salts and metals, two times the content of chlorides, three times the content of sodium, and four times the content of sulfates. Thanks to the installation of portable purification systems, children will now have access to clean drinking water at school, which is vital for their health and normal learning process.

We urge everyone to get involved – your support in the form of donations will allow us to deliver even more water purification systems to the regions of Ukraine affected by war and shelling. Every hryvnia is important.
